Region 7 Report
Notes from ISSA Region 7 Director
Steve Klinkefus

Wow! What a winter, if you haven’t been snowmobiling somewhere this year it’s your own fault. I know many of you have put a lot of miles on your sleds this year.

Many things of interest: Again this year for any members going out West please pay attention to the weather reports, the avalanche reports and use common sense to have a safe
and enjoyable venture. Remember the ACSA theme ―Take a friend snowmobiling so see if any of your friends maybe interested in riding. Especially Feb 12-22 which is ―Take a friend snowmobiling week. Also be a responsible snowmobiler only ride in designated areas, and pick up your trash. In respect to the above item of interest please stay on the marked trails, do not ride off into a farm field or land just because it looks inviting, it has taken a lot of effort by John, Rob and others to get permission, mark, and clean up the trails. If we don’t stay on the trails we could lose the privilege to use them. ISSA Legislative Breakfast – Tuesday January 26, 2010

Myself and Bruno Andreini attended. Approximately 40+ legislators attended. Motorcycle dealers, Abate of Iowa, ATV, and snowmobilers were represented along with lobbyists for snowmobilers and motorcycle dealers. ISSA Legislative/Public Ride – Saturday January 30, 2010Myself and Kathy/Gary Burger along with numerous SDSC club members hosted a couple dozen public along with a Story County legislator, Story County Supervisor, Story County Conservation, and Iowa DNR.DM Winter Games Snocross – Saturday February 6, 2010Many SDSC and ISSA members helped at this year’s Snocross. There were approximately 50 participants and 300-400 Spectators. Thanks to all SDSC members who helped with any of the above ISSA activities your help is very much appreciated. ISSA Trailer Raffle – get your tickets at the meeting or contact myself if you have a high school senior graduating this year and planning on continuing their education check the ISSA web site for an application for a scholarship the application is due April 1, 2010I also want to thank all the Club members who recruited new members to join this season, without Clubs, snowmobiling wouldn’t be where it is today and in the future Clubs will become more and more important to the sport of snowmobiling. I want to acknowledge and thank all the SDSC members who are coming to the monthly meetings and getting involved Remember, if you have any questions or issues concerning ISSA contact me; use the info in the Iowa Snowmobiler.

Saylorville Club Officer Nominations for Election – Please consider getting more involved in the club and become an officer. It may help you to get to know your fellow club members and it will help you to become more aware of what is happening in the snowmobile community both local and beyond. If you are interested contact any current board member.

Nominations for Officers for SDSC will be in March. Please think about running for an office. Remember, YOU are what make the club and without members stepping up and getting involved there is no club only you. The Saylorville Dam Club has openings on various committees all members should think about serving on a committee, please think about what you can do for the Club because it is you the member that can make or break any club.
